SUMMARY:Native Plant Landscaping Tour
DESCRIPTION:Ever wonder how native plant landscaping might work in your yard? Diverse plantings of native shrubs\, trees\, wildflowers\, and grasses can boost your enjoyment of nature at home\, while supporting wildlife and connecting conservation lands. NCF Botanist/Plant Ecologist Kelly Omand gives a tour of our office at 118 Cliff Rd to explore the changes we’ve made to our office gardens. We recently had a makeover to remove invasive species and add ornamental native foundation plantings sponsored by a generous Nantucket Garden Club Grant\, along with a biodiversity meadow. We’ll observe and discuss the insect life and animals that have benefited from this project. \n  \nFree with Membership – Become a member at https://www.nantucketconservation.org/support/membership/\n\nClick Here to Register!

SUMMARY:Earth Story Walk & Talk with Dr. Rich Blundell
DESCRIPTION:Join MMA’s Dr. Rich Blundell on this 4.6km (2.9 mile) walk through the history of planet Earth\, each stride will account for approximately one million years of natural history. Come ambulate and contemplate the established\, scientific understandings and also reconsider how the events and processes of deep time have led to our current global predicament. By considering the broader scales of life on Earth we will gain new insights to reinterpret the science in more meaningful ways. Various locations to be determined. Registration is required. \nParticipant: $25.00 \nIn case of inclement weather\, we will hold the event indoors at the Maria Mitchell Research Center at 2 Vestal Street.
